I bought a 96 Saturn SL2 from eBay for USD 900 today. I was not sure of the condition but it was listed as a running vehicle and that was what I could afford at the time.

Also Saturn parts are cheap and the mechanics are not that complicated. During my last visit to the Pick-A-Part yard I discovered piles and piles of old Saturns. So I can pull anything from there for a cheap price. I love tinkering but its not like Sri Lanka. The labor here is very very expensive so need to do most by myself if possible.
